Under a public service delegation, SPL Eau du Bassin Rennais produces water for local residents and distributes it to 143,200 subscribers in Rennes and surrounding municipalities. The company’s mission is to provide safe drinking water to everyone, everywhere, at all times, while offering high-quality service.
At its creation in 2015, only technical and support services were handled directly by SPL. Tasks related to customer relations (call center, meter readings, billing, and collections) were subcontracted. In April 2017, the User Services Department was created to manage these missions internally, improving customer relationship management.

The challenge
The creation of the user services department introduced a new set of requirements: organizing technical interventions on subscribers’ meters. SPL Eau du Bassin Rennais technicians now conduct rounds to perform tasks such as installation, maintenance, and removal.
With more than 355,000 residents across 59 municipalities, SPL Eau du Bassin Rennais needed a tool to optimize real-time appointment scheduling, considering all operational constraints while maintaining agility, flexibility, and service quality. The goal was to reduce travel time and kilometers for mobile technicians.

To implement this project, SPL Eau du Bassin Rennais chose Nomadia Field Service and integrated it with its existing CMMS solution from CARL Source. Meter technicians perform surveys and monitor installations to anticipate renewals, prevent failures, and repair malfunctions. With Nomadia Field Service, interventions are automatically assigned based on technical skills and existing schedules.
When a subscriber requests an appointment or when a maintenance visit is scheduled, Nomadia Field Service finds the optimal planning to minimize travel time and distance.
